Designed by Gérard Ducarouge and built by team Lotus, the 97T participated in the 1985 Formula One season. During this year, Ayrton Senna signed for the team and along with Elio de Angelis they scored three grand prix and achieved eight pole positions. Senna came from Toleman and was in this car that he won his first Grand Prix in Estoril Circuit, in serious wet conditions.
